I felt that Aaron Siskind's work was mostly characterized by strong contrasts between various shapes and patterns. In my work, I tried to use various strong shapes in leaves and plants that I thought showed good contrast to emulate Siskind's photos. I think that the late afternoon lighting on both the palm tree and the leaves provided an even stronger contrast and interesting shadows that I could work with. I especially liked the lighting on the pot of the palm tree and on the back of the leaves.
